Bowmore 15 yo

43°
Distillery : Bowmore - Islay
Bourbon Barrels and Oloroso Sherry Finish
Original Bottling
Core Range
Single Malt
Launched in 2017
Peated around 25 ppm

This one replaces the Darkest, although it is not certain that the blending is any different.

Let's Taste It :
Crushed blackberries, damp wood, foresty peat. Toffee, richly waxed old leather, black earth full of humus. A hint of ash. Initially dominated by sherry, after a while it becomes smoky. Very good balance. Woody palate, sap, pear, plum and grapes, a bit of warming spices. Lots of dark chocolate in the finish, and even coffee, quite long in fact. Mocha. A bitter note in retro-olfaction. A slightly fragile and nuanced expression, which is a change from all the bombs of all kinds.

In Short,
It's not bad at all, in fact it's very good provided you aerate it sufficiently, but I find the Darkest better, maybe that's just an impression. The value for money isn't entirely convincing.
Score : 85
