Bruichladdich has been releasing this vintage whisky annually since 2012, using barley grown on Islay. Here the barley comes from Rockside Farm, and this is the third Islay Barley. The age of the whisky is indicated on the bottom of the bottle, you'll need to inspect it in great detail to discover its secrets.

Let's Taste It :
It smells like wheat. On a bright sunny day. Vanilla, dry hay, a pinch of iodine, salt, a touch of caramel and wood in the background. The vanilla is really deep on the palate, but it's not too sweet. It's round, woody, slightly spicy, oily, grassy, warm spices, and with a rather long, fruity finish, frangipane, toasted almonds, chocolate pears, orgeat syrup, a hint of peppermint, the very slight bitterness of caramel, and lychees. Loose earth, ready to be ploughed.

In Short,
Notes of cereal and vanilla combine with a certain greediness. It's a great success. Despite the rather high price, it's well worth buying.
Score : 85
