Between 2009 and 2015, Bowmore offered this series of 6 Tempest, which are now very hard to find.

Let's Taste It :
The first nose offers a wall of ash, granite, limestone, it jumps out at you. Then the peat rises, the iodine, the foam, the seaweed, the tide, the fraying ash. Lastly, the fruits: juicy white plums, a hint of vanilla, and more peat. This is rather strong for a Bowmore. After a while it balances out, between the fruit, the ash and the peat. This fine balance is mirrored on the palate, though the peat is strong, and the alcohol makes itself felt, along with spices, pepper and a dash of vanilla toffee. The finish is long and intense, with oily vanilla that comes through in the teeth. An aftertaste of rock remains on the palate. I'm very impressed by the complexity and harshness of the product, there's nothing comfortable or gentle about it. It's a rugged whisky, I'd say, a real piece of Scotland.

In Short,
A very good edition, with clean peat and maturation in bourbon casks that gives a very enjoyable fruitiness. If you can find a bottle at a reasonable price, don't hesitate.
Score : 88
