The illustrious Master Blender John Glaser, founder of Compass Box, is bringing us his most peaty edition, made from a blend of casks from 5 different distilleries. No name is given, as the brochure says the whisky must speak for itself. But we do know that 15,000 bottles are available.

Let's Taste It :
Very Ardbeg on the nose, powerful black smoke combined with ample, vegetal peat. Then white fruits, citrus. A hint of cherry, salt and iodine, I imagine it's Caol Ila. Tidal. The candle wax/camphor flavour from Clynelish is barely noticeable. The palate is light and nuanced, quite Highlands, raisin cake, then the pepper rises, coarse salt, seaweed. Finish not too explosive but very long, tobacco, dark chocolate, spices, cardamom, cigar ash. Heather earth.

In Short,
I loved the nose and the finish, which are excellent, but I regret to say that I found the palate a tiny bit sub-par. It's still a very good product, incredibly subtle, but at a rather high price, especially now that it's so hard to find.
Score : 88
