48,9°
Distillery : Bowmore - Islay
1st Fill Ex-Château Lagrange Casks
Original Bottling
Limited Edition
Single Malt
Bottled in 2018
Peated around 25 ppm

This limited edition of 4,500 bottles has been put on sale exclusively on the Amazon website. At first, it doesn't sound too appealing, but when you realise that it has been aged in barrels from Château Lagrange, a Médoc classified 3rd Grand Cru, you think twice about it. Both Château Lagrange and Bowmore are owned by the Japanese company Suntory.

Let's Taste It :
On the nose, very fresh sherry, orange marmalade combined with iodine and light smoky peat, fish scales, yellow fruit, plums and nectarines, then the smoke becomes stronger. Winey sweetness, mentholated liqueur, ginger and mirabelle plums, creamy honey, a few spices, thyme, honeysuckle. Damp undergrowth. Pearly, velvety and fruity on the palate, but the spices soon rise. It remains balanced, however. Still full-bodied. Coarse salt. Quince purée. Pumpkin. Very long finish, charcoal, cola, heather earth, cardamom and cinnamon. A touch of peat at the end, with a slight acidity. Tangerine. Frosty lemon.

In Short,
Suffice to say, I loved it. Bowmore, from 18 years and with the right maturation, is truly delicious. I know it hurts to buy from Amazon, but you have to, because this is the quintessence of this illustrious distillery at a perfectly reasonable price.
