For some years now, the people at the distillery have been having fun bringing out different Limited Releases with original finishes. This was one of the first, finished in Brandy casks. The first maturation took place in Sherry casks for 9 years, then the distillate was poured into Brandy casks for 3 years. 4152 bottles were obtained from this experiment.

Let's Taste It :
Thick and dusty peat, with vinous hints. Sweet smoke, white fruits, citrus, dried raisins, avocado. Bitter wood. Nutmeg, aniseed. Asparagus, parsley. Even a touch of mayonnaise. It's waxy. Smoke hides the nuances. On the palate, it's softer, more balanced, oily. Frécinette bananas, greengages and mirabelle plums, lychees, a few drops of honey, powerful spices, cumin, black pepper. Destructive finish, chocolate, fig paste, grapes, a lemon zest, cola. A dash of vanilla.

In Short,
The nose is a bit sweet, like barley sugar, but it's quite successful. The palate is oily and dense, and the finish is powerful, long and expressive.. In conclusion, it's nice, but not very Bunnahabhain-like, therefore I didn't like it very much. Besides I haven't heard of other finishes in Brandy casks, perhaps that's for a good reason. It can still be found on certain websites, but at a much too high price.
Score : 87
