The Littlemill distillery, one of the oldest in Scotland, but closed in 1994, is becoming a legend. It is impossible for it to reopen, as it was dismantled and the site burnt down in 2004. As a result, the last casks are becoming rarer and rarer, in 2022 only 8 bottlings were produced, and in 2023 only 3, including this one, which is at least 33 years old. It is the independent bottler Hua Yang, from Taiwan, that gave this gem to La Maison du Whisky. Only 238 bottles were produced. Like the other bottlings in #13 Artist, it is decorated with a work by Wang Yung Chiu, entitled "Displaced Facade Aureolin".

Let's Taste It :
Intense cereals, generous vanilla. Light, ethereal iodine brings a certain freshness, then drifts towards exotic fruits, banana, pineapple, papaya. Lime and lemon. A few earthy notes add robustness. On the palate, it's also very fruity, still vanilla, creamy, sprinkled with lemon and various fruits, melon, peaches, lychees. The spices are discreet, nutmeg and a pinch of pepper. The end of the palate is oily, slightly caramelised and vegetal. Hazelnuts, cinnamon. Very long finish, with notes of tobacco, butter, chocolate, then lemon sweets. It's malty and deep.

In Short,
There's a nice balance between the cereals and the fruits, and other flavours add complexity. It's a great success, it's my first Littlemill, and I'm not sure I'll ever taste another one. Therefore, an exceptional and very pleasant moment. As for the price, it is of course very high, commensurate with the rarity and quality of the product.
