Already the 17th Batch of this more or less annual and legendary limited edition. There's nothing special about this Batch, it's been made just like the others, with no reduction, minimal filtration and only Bourbon Barrels for maturation. And that's what's so perfect. We'd like to know how many bottles were produced, though.

Let's Taste It :
Intense but fairly mellow smoke, nose in the ashtray, earthy and herbaceous notes, slight medicinal touch, almonds and green apples, biscuits soaked in milk, the iodine is very discreet. Banana and semi-salted butter. It's creamy on the palate, with a thick layer of smoky peat, white fruit and vanilla, mentholated and woody hints, rather controlled spices, ginger and pepper. The finish is long and deep, charcoal, tar, damp black earth, peat concentrate, liquorice and coffee, freshly dug roots, angelica, chestnuts, acorns and bark.

In Short,
I was a little disappointed by the nose, which was very smoky, but not very iodised or medicinal, whereas that's what I like with Laphroaig. On the other hand, it's excellent on the palate, very creamy and fruity, and the finish is just what you'd expect, very Laphroaigish, peaty and herbaceous with coffee and earthy notes. A good Batch but not my favourite, I'll still give it the usual rate, it mustn't be sad to spend the winter with this. By the way, the price is quite reasonable.
Score : 89
