Inchgower was one of the few distilleries I hadn't had the chance to taste, but now it's done. It was founded in 1871 and has been owned by Diageo since 1987. Almost all of its production goes into blends (99%, I was told), but there is still this single original bottling to find out what this distillery is really worth.

Let's Taste It :
Delicate and minty freshness, hint of iodine, pulpy yellow fruit. Pinch of salt, citrus zest, grapefruit and pineapple. Smooth vanilla cream, juicy pears, dried herbs. Rough woodiness, cashew nuts. On the palate, lime, orange peel, sweet butter spread on slices of farmhouse bread, subtle spices. The finish is quite long, almost robust, on lemon cream, slightly acidic, with walnuts and crushed almonds. Coarse sea salt, chalk and gypsum.Whipped eggs and english custard.

In Short,
This is the most remarkable of the Flora & Fauna range that I have tasted so far. The mineral and costal notes add character, and the fruit and citrus are very balanced, even subtle. Another unjustly underrated distillery in my humble opinion. What's more, the price is very good, provided you go to the right place.
