Distillery : Teaninich - Highlands
Bourbon and Sherry Casks
Original Bottling
Core Range
Single Malt
Launched in 1991
Totally Unpeated
Teaninich is one of Scotland's largest distilleries, but Single Malts bearing its name are not common. This one is from the extensive Flora & Fauna range, although this is not stated on the label. The age is only 10 years old, which is the lowest possible in this range.
Fresh and airy notes of slightly tart lemon, with grainy cereals and white fruit. Sucking candy, delicately floral and mentholated touches, vergeoise and marzipan. Roasted peanuts, Haribo banana. White chalk. On the palate, sweet butter, lemon sorbet, lemonade, puffed rice and green apple. It's slightly mineral in the background, with discreet, slightly exotic spices. The finish is correct, honeyed, creamy, young wood, light tobacco, Conference pears, dried hay. Peppermint. Chestnuts and crushed walnuts.
In Short,
It's very lemony, so not quite to my taste, but it's also floral and mineral, so I enjoyed it nonetheless. It's still light, though, even if it's well done. The price is low, so why not give it a go if you like the profile.
