Dufftown takes its name from the town where it was founded, and where no fewer than six distilleries thrive, including The Balvenie, Glenfiddich, Mortlach, Glendullan and Kininvie. It is currently managed by Diageo and the bulk of its production goes into blended whiskies, which is why an independent bottling is always welcome. Cadenhead uses the distillery’s former name, Dufftown-Glenlivet, even though it has not existed for a very long time.

Let's Taste It :
Lovely malty depth, freshly harvested grains, wheat, barley, millet. Juicy pear pulp, mirabelle plums and slightly overripe apples, baked in the oven, sponge cake drizzled with caramel, candied vanilla, and a pinch of salt. On the palate, it is dense, fruity, cereal-like and spicy, brioche, vanilla éclairs, whipped cream, white peaches and a lemon zest. Nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves. A long finish, blond tobacco, fruit paste, almond biscuits, runny honey, and a few herbaceous notes, ferns.

In Short,
A very pleasant whisky, but one that lacks that certain something to make it truly interesting, a touch of complexity, depth and intensity. That said, it’s an enjoyable drink, and the price isn’t too bad for a 16-year-old. Fans of the distillery and those simply curious might want to give it a go.
Score : 87+
