Bowmore Legend

40°
Distillery : Bowmore - Islay
Ex-Bourbon Casks
Original Bottling
Core Range
Single Malt
Launched in 1994
Peated around 25 ppm

This is the distillery's entry-level whisky, and thanks to its not-too-invasive peat, it's a great way to discover Islay whiskies.

Let's Taste It :
Iodised nose, light peat with hints of guano, limestone and wet grass. Thick moisture, medicinal touch, fairly pungent vanilla, floral whiffs, white grape. On the palate, it's a bit acidic, with a touch of pear and honey, and a taste of iron filings. Few spices, white pepper and Provence herbs. The finish is sparkling, peppery without being it too much, also a bit rough. Not very long though. Mirabelles and small yellow apples. A dash of charcoal and pebbles.

In Short,
It will always be a good starting point for going further into Islay. However, it's really very young, and when your palate starts to mature, it's no longer a pleasure to taste.
Score : 81
