This is the bottom of the peaty Bunnahabhain line, of which there are now fairly many.
On the nose, first a thick, dizzying smoke, which gradually dissipates. Then a very dry peat, milk chocolate, salt, fresh iodine, a touch of earth and honey. A few herbal notes and stone. On the palate, salted caramel mingles with chocolate and a strong measure of pepper, which explodes in the finish with the peat. Quite long, the caramel gradually transforms into a light fig flavour. It's a relatively subtle whisky, and a rather successful one in its kind.
In Short,
A good expression. The light fig flavour on the finish is a real attention-getter. Having said that, Bunnahabhain offers better peated spirits at slightly higher prices, not to mention the independent bottlings.
