Highland Park 12 yo Viking Honour

40°
Distillery : Highland Park - Islands
Ex-Sherry Casks
Original Bottling
Core Range
Single Malt
Launched in 2017
Uncoloured
Peated around 20 ppm

It actually dates back to 1979, but it was in 2017 that the slogan "Viking Honour" was added to it, without necessarily changing the blending.

Let's Taste It:
Quite a full and fresh nose, loaded with citrus fruits. Lemon, orange, clementine. Spices, some red fruits in the background. The peat is light, but nicely smoky. A very fine balance between the smoke and the citrus fruits, it's a success in this aspect. The palate is a continuation of the nose, with a solid base of peat on which the citrus fruits rest, tending towards exotic fruits. Pineapple, papaya. White plum, an ounce of vanilla. A light sprinkling of spices. Successful finish, with a hint of smoke. A little taste of vanilla at the end. Earthy and grassy.

In Short,
A very fine expression, with real qualities. However, the 40° alcohol content prevents it from entering the big league.
Score : 84
