Distillery : Ardbeg - Islay
Manzanilla Sherry and Bourbon Casks
Original Bottling
Limited Edition
Single Malt
Bottled in 2013
Unchillfiltered, Uncoloured
Peated around 54 ppm

Contrary to popular belief, this limited edition is not a Committee Release. It is a tribute to the peat bogs of Islay and their essential role in whisky making. 13,000 copies have been produced.

Let's Taste It :
Sherry and peat, the perfect combination. The peat is spicy and deep, the sherry tasty, unctuous and gourmet. Blackberry, blackcurrant, rhubarb, and at the same time iodine, tar, rubber. A medicinal touch. A touch of seaweed. White fruits and vanilla, but it's very vague. On the palate, leather, honey, spices, caramel, all well oaked. Very long, strong and pleasant finish, lots of herbs, juniper, a touch of menthol, it's really very good and original. I think it's best drunk without water.

In Short,
Another superb marriage of peat and sherry from Ardbeg, just like the Uigeadail, but this time the sherry is more present and sweeter. A must-have if you can find it at a good price, which would be a miracle in the current conditions.
Score : 90
