Every Christmas, Douglas Laing's spoils us with this cask strength edition of the famous Big Peat. And it's been going on since 2011. So this is the 9th edition. This batch is numbered 95.

Let's Taste It :
A very well-balanced vanilla and bourbon nose, quite sweet even, with genoise, whipped cream and pastry cream. Icing sugar. But the peat is there of course, powerful, in the company of fresh and salty iodine. It's the morning breeze on the beach. On the palate, still vanilla, a hint of lemon, white fruits, mirabelle plums, kumquats, bathed in thick peat. The explosive finish is very enjoyable, long enough and perfectly mastered. Coal, limestone, gravel.

In Short,
Powerful and typically Islay peat wrapped in a delicate bourbon, that's what it's all about. The price is very reasonable, so don't hesitate to give it a try.
Score : 88
