To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Port Askaig range is now offering this limited edition, still from a distillery as mysterious as it is easy to recognise. The alcohol content is precisely 55.85°, which also happens to be the latitude of the village of Port Askaig on Islay. Of course, 10,000 copies were produced, so many symbols.

Let's Taste It :
Once again a very maritime and peaty profile, but without masking the fruit. Although the demonstrator tells me it's Laphroaig, I'm convinced it's Caol Ila, but without red fruits, it's very similar to Moch, with 12° more alcohol. It's the tide, iodine, coarse salt, stone, oysters, whelks, bottarga, mud, seaweed, all with a little vanilla, a dash of ashy smoke, some white fruits, plums, mirabelles and pears. Oily and spicy on the palate, honey and ash, pepper, cardamom and lemon meringue pie. Very long finish, caramel, charcoal, fuel oil, vanilla custard and candied lemon.

In Short,
For all lovers of Caol Ila, and Islay in general, this is a must-have. A perfect marriage of fruits, iodine and peat, it's the epitome of what can be done on this mythical island. A must-have.
Score : 88
