Following the success of the Artist range, La Maison du Whisy created the Artist Collective range in 2017. The concept is much the same: an original work of art must adorn the label, and fanciful bottlings follow each year. Except that these are not single casks, and rarely cask strength. For the 1st bottling from this 5th Batch, we have a 6-year-old Ben Nevis, aged in 2 casks of Second-Fill Sherry, with an alcohol content of 57.1°, equivalent to 100° Proof. On the label, the artwork entitled "Grabuge 1" is a collective work by Studio Grabuge.

Let's Taste It :
Very good nose, with a smell of baked bread, sweet fragrances such as icing sugar, genoise and marzipan, otherwise the classic Ben Nevis nose with deep oak and light peat, full of nuances, with exotic fruits and floral hints. Full-bodied and suave on the palate, with citrus and light red fruits, gooseberries, lingonberries. Harmonious spices, nutmeg and cinnamon. Lovely finish, long enough to be worth the trip, charcoal, earth, a few chocolate chips. Figs, cola.

In Short,
I thought it was excellent. I even think it's the best of this Batch. The second fill sherry is a very good idea, it allows the sherry to give another dimension to the whisky without being overpowering. What's more, it's not overpriced, so I think it's worth buying.
Score : 88
