The 4th bottling from the 4th batch of the Artist Collective series founded in 2017 by La Maison du Whisky is a Ledaig, in other words a peated Tobermory, aged in 2 Refilled Sherry casks. On the label is an original work by Marie de Franceville, entitled "L'Explorateur". It appears to be a trompe l'oeil work.

Let's Taste It :
Beautiful maritime peat, a little dirty, with thick hints, enhanced by the Sherry, which gives body, some red fruits, rather gooseberry and blackcurrant, but also lychee and pear. Some iodine appears after a while, but the whole is fairly balanced. Delicate on the palate, where smoke intertwines with a touch of hazelnut and soya milk, followed by fuel oil. Well-managed spices, cumin and nutmeg. A very good finish, coaly, earthy, deep without being aggressive, long and woody. Dried apricots.

In Short,
This is a very successful Artist Collective, which impressed me I must say, but I love Ledaig, and I taste it too rarely. That said, it's very good, both violent and balanced, with everything I love about this distillery. On the other hand, I find the price excessive.
Score : 88
