The Vintner is the wine merchant. And The Vintner's Trilogy is a limited edition that pays tribute to wines, and finished in wine casks. Trilogy because there is something for everyone, French wine, Spanish Sherry, and Port. The bottle that interests us is considered the first element of this trilogy, first aged 13 years in Bourbon barrels, it was then refined for 5 years in barrels of Sherry Manzanilla, a dry Sherry rarely used in the whisky world. The bottling was done in cask strength and without cold filtration. This went on sale in October 2017 with an unspecified number of bottles.

Let's Taste It :
Mildly smoky, with a light Sherry. Quinces and apricots jam. Candied rhubarb. With the addition of water, it takes on fullness, becomes very creamy and the iodine strengthens. Coconut, green apple, juicy oranges. A fine combination. Sweet on the palate, woody, genoise, chouquettes, tart Tatin, with earthy, damp undergrowth in the background. Well managed spices, thyme, white pepper, curry. Peat and caramel, rubbed leather. Beautiful finish, very long and powerful, liquorice stick, chestnut macaroons, green tea. Cola.

In Short,
I'm not sure that Manzanilla is the best possible Sherry for a marriage with Bowmore. The result is excellent, creamy, greedy and fruity, but it's a little dry compared to Bowmore's DNA, which is more humid, with undergrowth, black earth and tidal notes. Well, that's just my opinion. Anyway, it's very good, with a superb finish, and I admit that if I had heard of this little gem at the time, I might have let myself be tempted. The release price was decent, however, today that it is sold out almost everywhere, it has reached incredible heights.
