From time to time, the gentlemen at Elixir Distillers let their colleagues from The Nectar, a Belgian whisky import company, wander through their warehouses and select a few casks. The 2022 selection caused quite a stir, particularly this Clynelish, aged very simply in a single Bourbon cask, which produced 258 bottles.

Let's Taste It :
Creamy wax, sparkling lemon, honey and wood glue. Ointment, camphor. After a while, it becomes greedy, marzipan, mint leaf, cardamom. A touch of iodine, vanilla, guava, passion fruit. Gypsum. Wine cellar. Silky-smooth on the palate, with candied lemon, orange jam and rose petals. Rich spices, cumin and saffron, grey pepper. Delicate oak note. Warm, freshly baked bread. Vertiginous, very long finish, lemon shortbread biscuits, waffles with a scoop of vanilla, salted butter caramel, milk chocolate. Nutmeg, young unvarnished wood beam. Bread crust. A touch of cereal.

In Short,
An excellent Clynelish, and the best I've had at this age. Simple and typical, but incredibly complex and original, it gives everything this distillery can give. Elixir Distillers are famous for their bottlings of Clynelish, and this is one of the best. Obviously, with such high quality, this little gem didn't stay on sale for long, especially as the price was very reasonable. Nowadays, you have to scour the auction sites to find it.
