Another huge limited edition, this blend of 61 Sherry casks, totalling 23,000 bottles, echoes its predecessor, released in 2021. But the difference is that this one is aged entirely in Sherry casks, whereas the previous one was partly made from casks only finished in Sherry. The Pedro Ximénez cask is the sweetest and undoubtedly the fruitiest, this one comes from La Bodega José y Miguel Martin, recently established in Jérez.
It's mellow and sweet, with a variety of red fruits and a background of charcoal peat gorged with soot and fuel oil. Lingonberries, crunchy cherries, amarena, morello, passion fruit and even raspberries. The fruit ballet continues on the palate, which is very jammy, with blackcurrants and blackberries, liquorice and chocolate. The peat is a tad more discreet. Beautiful spices, varied and rich, nutmeg, cumin, pepper. Black tea. The finish is long and fleshy, with a taste of rare meat, ash and a few mineral hints. Coffee grounds. Blueberries.
In Short,
It's very rich in fruits, sugary but not too sweet, however, the peat is a bit out of place. All in all, a very fine bottling, perhaps a little too rich in Sherry. As usual, the price is too high.
