Bowmore 18 yo Deep & Complex

43°
Distillery : Bowmore - Islay
Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso Sherry Casks
Original Bottling
Travel Retail Edition
Single Malt
Edited in 2017
Peated around 25 ppm

This prestige edition, reserved for the travel trade, is still fairly easy to find, and is practically part of the regular range.

Let's Taste It :
Immediately after being poured into the glass, the sherry comes to the fore and you think of blackberry liqueur. After a few minutes, the peat becomes stronger and stronger. It is woody, fruity and slightly medicinal. There's also iodine and kelp. A delicately floral hue that is Bowmore's hallmark. Violet or rose. On the palate, it's a whirlwind of flavours, starting with red fruits and soft leather combined with racy peat, then honey and candied lemon, something slightly acidic like gooseberry or bilberry, spices, and at last the long finish, with the peat rising and pounding the table, a touch of earth, and then the flowers that blossom in retro-olfaction, with woody hints.

In Short,
A very greedy expression that seems to me better than the other 18-year-old. A must-have classic if you can find it at a reasonable price..
Score : 89
