From 2012 onwards, Bruichladdich decided to release an annual vintage edition made from a special 6-row barley, also known as escourgeon. Common barley has only two rows. This is the 8th Bere Barley batch.

Let's Taste It :
This time the barley is spicy, almost seasoned. And the lemon is very present, but a candied, citrusy lemon, with blood orange, spices, cinnamon, cloves and cardamom. The earthiness is in the background, with the cereal profile typical of the distillery, but it comes through on the palate, almost astringent, mineral, barely attenuated by some white fruits, then the spices rise, and it's a rather strong finish, fertiliser, coal, dust. Chocolate and earth.

In Short,
A slightly more earthy and cerealy profile than the Islay Barley, but apart from that, nothing exceptionally original. The fact remains that this is a typical expression of the distillery and you shouldn't hesitate to buy one from time to time.
Score : 85
