This is the sixth edition of the Oloroso Cask Matured from Hazelburn. The first was in 2017. This one is only 12 years old, the youngest to date. As usual, the juice was distilled three times, then immersed in Oloroso casks. 9,000 bottles were produced.. 

 

 

 

Let's Taste It : 

Right from the start, it's very fruity, with gooseberries, raspberries and wild strawberries, but it's airy, not at all acidic, with a very pleasant hint of undergrowth. There's also a slight Springbank iodine. Chestnut purée, bark, dried fruits, raisins, fig and banana. The palate is creamy, foresty and fruity, with cranberries and blackberries, humus and vegetal moss. Spices of course, paprika, nutmeg, black pepper, and the finish is strong, earthy, coaly, heathery, ferny, chocolatey.

In Short, 

It lives up to its reputation: rich, deep and varied. Very Sherry-influenced. It's not as successful as last year's 15yo, but it's very pleasant nonetheless. You'll have to buy it if you find it at the release price, but it's becoming more and more sought-after, so you'll have to be quick.
