This is the 5th bottling of Highland Park in the Reserve Casks sub-range from Elixir Distillers. This time, the spirit was bathed in 3 Oloroso sherry casks for 11 years before being released to the public, as part of Parcel n°11 of the range. We don't know how many bottles were produced, but it's non-chill-filtered, that's what's important.

Let's Taste It :
The nose is velvety and fruity, with apple crumble, sprinkled with cinnamon, apricot compote, heather, leather and raspberry jelly. Liquorice, caramel and a hint of smoke with stars of soot. On the palate, stewed fruits, quinces, figs, bananas and a touch of guava. It's creamy, with red fruits, some suave spices, cloves, cumin and black tea. Quite long finish, not quite explosive, blackcurrants and blackberries, oak bark, vegetal moss, humus. Crushed fruits. Milk chocolate.

In Short,
It's very good, the cask influence is significant, but there's still a nice balance with the distillery's recognisable profile. I really like this range, I'm rarely disappointed. Here, it lives up to its reputation, without being as good as I'd hoped, it's still very pleasant. The price is very reasonable, and I'm thinking of buying it.
Score : 88
