Organic barley has been grown at Mid Coul Farm on Islay since 2003. It's Publican barley, a very rare type of barley that I didn't know existed until now. Since 2010, we've had a new vintage of this Organic every year or so.

Let's Taste It :
Once again, it's very cerealy, and even perfect in that aspect, crunchy, appetising, varied, from barley to wheat, with a few oilseeds, cashew nuts and peanuts. Then it becomes more ethereal, with discreet fruits, mainly white plums and vanilla, a barely perceptible iodine. The creamy taste is found back on the palate, with candied vanilla and frosted lemon, it's round and greedy, with genoise and toasted almonds. Cereal bar. Discreet spices, cumin. Long, powerful finish, on charcoal, earth, chestnuts with a fruity touch of white chocolate with raisins. Dry earth, hay.

In Short,
Even better than the previous one, with a cereal intensity that can only be found in certain Single Grain, an airy, iodised profile that gives it height, a lovely mouthfeel, and a very good, authentic, rustic finish. This one really has it all. Unfortunately, the price is a little high, due to the manufacturing processes, which are inevitably more expensive. Let's make an effort for the planet, our palate will thank us.
Score : 87
