This short series of Triskele Casks is based on the principle that three different elements bring perfect balance, as is the case in Celtic tradition, as illustrated by the symbol of the Triskele. Here, the three elements are three different but complementary casks, to create the perfect harmony. Bourbon casks, wine casks that have been sanded, toasted and re-charred, and Oloroso Sherry casks. Each with its own special touch. This bottle, designed on the occasion of Feis Ile for the French market, is sold exclusively by La Maison du Whisky. 1260 units have been released.
Let's Taste It :
The nose is original, with intense winey hints at first, but it is not acidic. Then tannins and fresh cherries. Powerful peat, mineral and charcoal, full of soot. A touch of iodine stands out, giving it good fullness. A bit leafy. Full and fruity on the palate, rich with fruits, some exotic, figs, white grapes, banana. Heather, delicate oak. Powerful spices, nutmeg, paprika. Long, ample finish, full of greengages, goji seeds, cashew nuts, bark, forest berries.
In Short,
Very nice, even better than N°2 I think, which was a little drowned in the fruits. This one is a little rougher, darker, more syrupy. I prefer it, but both bottlings are interesting. It's really tempting, but the price is a bit high nonetheless, it's still a reduced NAS.
